Help-need a nice hotel in Oxford ASAP

I cannot express how disappointed we were just a bit ago when we checked into our Jr suite at the Marriott Courtyard

That was no suite, and the bathroom ceiling was leaking & dripping. The mgr switched us to another (much smaller) room. He is doing all he can, but this place is not cutting it

I am gun shy of any other place now. The Randolph “looks good “ on the web, but so did this place when I booked it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you

So what do you need?

A room in Oxford for how long? Clarity.

There’s a Premier Inn Oxford City Westgate about a 5-10 minute walk away if it’s the Courtyard by Marriott on Paradise Street that you are referencing.

Malmaison maybe? It’s in the old jail. Not sure if they have suites, but Malmaison hotels are in the quirky but luxurious boutique category.

Update: they do have suites, some availability, around the £280, £300 mark which seems good value.

Thank you Claudia

4 days ideally, 3 starting tomorrow is also ok.

Checkout Saturday AM.

Very nice and clean, for 2. Not looking for budget but not $1000/ night either

In Europe it is not uncommon to ask to see the room before checking in. I would stop by your top choice and ask the front desk to show you the room. If you like it, take it. If not, try the next one on your list.

I’d check booking.com and see what they show as available. There aren’t a lot of hotels in Oxford. The Marriott Courtyard has an 8.5 rating which is a pretty good rating; I think you will need to look for a hotel with a higher rating unless there is a very specific problem with the Marriott that can be resolved by another hotel.

We stayed at the Malmaisin (refurbished jail) and loved the uniqueness of it. It was modern in the rooms, a beautiful lobby area, and our dinner & breakfasts were excellent! The decor was clever, too, keeping with the theme of a jail with a funny carpet pattern of sets of tick marks - four vertical lines & a diagonal to count every five days! ; )

Sorry you're having problems with the Marriott Courtyard there. I stayed there last year and had no problems at all, but I know things like that sometimes happen and it's never any fun. I hope you find a room that you like!
