Help! We are planning on visiting England in late July for our honeymoon and planned on visiting Highclere Castle/Downton Abbey but their website says its fully booked as does Brit Movie Tours that is recommended in the Rick Steves' books. Anyone find other tour companies visiting Highclere?? Any help would be very very very appreciated!!

Some people have suggested just showing up to see if you can get in for a tour but I'm not sure I would want to try that. Those tours sell out as soon as they become available. I also wanted to tour Highclere Castle when we come to London in May but alas, there are no tours available. We're going to Bath & Windsor instead. Good luck!

I want to say that they film the show end of May, June and July off and out. Plus the family does live there. I should up last June and got to walk around but the house was closed.

I noticed their are so few tickets this summer so maybe that's why they are sold out. Thank you that's helpful!
Still fingers crossed someone knows of a tour that goes there!!

I can't vouch for any of these but if you just Google "tours of highclere castle" there are a number of companies that come up

Worth a try I think!
I toured Highclere last summer. I bought my tickets online the moment they went on sale. When we went there they were turning people away at the ticket booth. Other people on the forum have said they just showed up and were able to get in. So you never know! If you can't get in Stonehenge, Salisbury and Oxford aren't far away so it won't be a complete waste of time to drive out there if you have a Plan B!
