Help deciding between two hotels

I previously posted, but it got deleted, so I'm trying again ... I am not sure why it was deleted, but I will try again without links :)

We are trying to decide between these two London hotels and wanted to see if any of you had any experience (positive or negative) with either. Both are in the area we'd like to stay, both within our budget and the reviews of each have pluses an minuses. Booking directly with either gives us breakfast and WiFi, so there are no real easy winners. I'd love to hear if any of you have any feedback.

The properties are:

The Rathbone
Grange Beauchamp

Thanks in advance!

No experience with either. Your post may have been deleted if it look like buzz advertising for the hotels. This site is pretty strict on advertising or the appearance of advertising.

I would go and read the very many TripAdvisor reviews posted by people who have actually stayed at these two hotels. Discount any one- or five-star reviews...

I have stayed at a couple of Grange hotels (not this one) and they're fine without being particularly special. Just kind of middling.

Oh, I've just remembered I've stayed at the Rathbone! Also fine.

I like the location of the Rathbone, in the middle of buzzy Fitzrovia and all its restaurants. But then, most of the Grange ones are in that area too.

To put this in context: I've stayed in these hotels for work because we have a fairly meagre budget and these are the most luxurious hotels within that meagre price range. The Rathbone's breakfast was better than the Grange I stayed at, but the room was smaller.

Both had lifts, but not big ones.

Incidentally if I were paying for myself I would always choose a Premier Inn if it came up at the same price - light & airy rooms, so reliable and consistent, so clean, such comfortable beds and such friendly staff.

Jane, that is good to know.. There is a Premier Inn nearby and the prices are comparable (even a little cheaper). I will add it to my list and show the other half tonight... seems like a great option!

Another vote for Premier Inn. Since I discovered these a few years back, never had a bad experience. A lot of folks on here are looking for "quaint" etc, but I much prefer to know what I'm getting. PI's no frills but get the basics right.

Thanks for your replies -- we ended up booking at the Premier Holborn... used the extra money we saved to splurge a little on the back end, more "relaxing" leg of our trip and upgraded our Paris hotel.

Appreciate your help as always!
