Help....college student traveling to Cambridge peak summer season, suggestions needed

Trying to book flights to London during peak season. Would it be cheaper to fly in/out another airport/country and then train to/from London/Cambridge? He will be in Cambridge from late June to late July. We are on west coast. He is returning home from Middle East early June.

You could certainly check flights and prices. Try Kayak.com flying into Birmingham or Manchester and compare prices with flights to London.

Thank you Lee, that helped. He is more than willing to travel (of course) and his dates can be flexible. Would you suggest Dublin, Amsterdam or somewhere else cheaper than England to fly in or out of?

Well by the time he adds in the transportation costs (ferry or train) to get from Dublin or Amsterdam to Cambridge, it might just add up the same price if he flew into England in the first place. And it's peak season all over Europe in June.

If the west coast departure city is Seattle, he may be able to save money with Icelandair, at the cost of a one-hour layover in Reykjavik. They fly to London and Manchester. Takes a little longer and no free meals, but otherwise fine. And no fare increase if he spends more time in Iceland coming or going.
