Hello! I am finding conflicting information online. Can anyone confirm whether there is a train directly from Heathrow to York, or do all trains from Heathrow have to go into London, and then get a train from there? Would it be Kings Cross station if so? We are landing from the US into Heathrow at 11:30am (in late May of this year) and hoping to get to York that evening, so trying to figure out the best way to do that. Thanks for any advice!
No direct trains. You need to get to Kings Cross in London. The tube is your best bet for that. Looks as if trains go to York every hour and journey takes 2 hours so you will have no problem getting there by evening. The most likely delay will be at the airport depending on flight arrival, how long to cope with customs/immigration etc. allow at least 2 hours for that. There is a direct tube from Heathrow to St Pancras/kings Cross.
Thank you, very helpful!!
If you buy an off peak ticket from London to York you can simply take the tube to King's Cross and board the next train to York. Trains from London to York are pretty frequent and run at least twice hourly.
If you haven’t booked your flights yet, you would be far better flying into Manchester. From there you can take a direct train straight from the airport to York and will be there well before going through London.
