Heathrow to Stow on the Wold

We will be arriving at Heathrow and want to stay overnight at a hotel nearby...any suggestions that are not too expensive? More importantly, we would like to take a train from Heathrow to Stow on the Wold the next morning. I believe the train only goes to Kingham, and we would have to take a taxi from there to Stow on the Wold. My question is what rail line from Heathrow would we take, and where is it located in the airport? I appreciate any help you can give.

No inter city trains at Heathrow.

Heathrow Express, or tube, into London Paddington station, change for a train to Moreton-in-Marsh, then taxi or bus. Much more common connection for Stow-on-the-Wold (Where, as the doggerel I grew up with goes, the Wind Blows Cold) than from Kingham.

Stow-on-the-Wold is a straight A-road, the Roman Fosseway, easy jump from Moreton-in-Marsh station. Moreton-in-Marsh has a good market every Tuesday, the largest of its kind in the Cotswolds.

Rather than going back to London I would take the local bus to Slough to catch the train onwards. Or book a car if you wish.

We stayed at the Heathrow Sheraton Hotel a few years ago. Rates were very reasonable and it is convenient, especially if you rent a car from Thrifty, which is next to the hotel.

We spend six nights in the Cotswolds last October, at Chipping Campden (The Volunteer Inn). Taking in the Cotswolds requires renting a car, unless you pay for an expensive tour.
