Heathrow to Stansted this Saturday, November 11

Hi! I posted on another webpage forum and got some unkind responses, so I thought I would try here. Because of a flight issue, we have ended up landing at Heathrow at 10:05am on Saturday and have to fly out of Stansted at 16:30 to Sicily. We are from a small town so pretty unfamiliar with public transport. What is the best(most likely to get us there on time) way to get from Heathrow to Stansted?

I’m presuming you are flying out the sane day. Fo you know which Heathrow terminal you will be arriving at? Will help generating an answer about easiest and best route.

There a National Express bus service directly from Heathrow to Stansted. It takes about 90 minutes. This Satturday there is an 11:05 AM departure and 12:35 departure. Both will get you there in time.

You could also take the Elizabeth Line to Liverpool Street Station then transfer to the Stansted Express/Greater Anglia to Stansted Airport. The Stansted Express runs every 30 minutes on Saturday.

Journey time between the bus and trains is about the same. Bus is easier.

This Saturday I would be inclined to use National Express due to the multiple tube line closures for the Baker Street resignalling- leading to pressure on other lines, coupled with the Lord Mayor's Show and a pro-Palestinian demonstration. All of which will heap pressure on the open lines.

Probably too late, but do you have any room for manoeuvre to change things to make an overnight stop between filght to take the risk out of the situation?

All you need is an incident on the M25 to bring it to a standstill or signal failure on part of the rail network en route to snooker your plans.

I take the National Express bus often to Stansted from Heathrow. It is pretty straightforward although there is always the potential for traffic jams on the M25. If you are coming into Terminal 3 at LHR follow the signs for the coach/bus terminal. You can buy a ticket on the National Express app. Buy a flexible ticket for a little extra in case of flight delays. The trip to Stansted will take approximately 1.5 hours. The bus driver will scan your ticket and load your luggage under the coach. The coach is quite comfortable and there is a toilet at the back. This may be the best option. I do sometimes take the train, but to be honest, it's not much quicker.
