Heathrow to Oxford buses, round trip

Hello travelers, I'd like to know if there are different types of buses directly from Heathrow Airport to Oxford, and vice versa, and which one would be the most convenient to take. If I have a flight to take around 1pm from Heathorw, is it possible to take the bus from Oxford on the same morning to go to Heathrow direclty? Do these buses have senior fare? Thank you. -- Travelease

We took the "Airline" bus from Oxford to Heathrow. Very convenient & comfortable. We took the bus to LHR the day before our flight, as we didn't want to stress, but if you get an early-enough bus you should be fine. Our early-afternoon bus did fill up by the stop on the eastern edge of the Oxford area (the Thornhill park + ride), but if you get on at the bus station in central Oxford you should be fine. You can also reserve a seat on a particular bus. The link about halfway down on their website (given in my first sentence) says "Our airline services operate day and night, meaning you can get to the airport regardless of your departure time. Reserve your seat."

Here is a map of the places where the bus stops. There are departures starting at 4am (!). I don't see a senior fare, but the price is only £30 "return" (note that the Brits say "return," not round-trip), which is a great value for two 1.5-hour trips with a comfy seat, WiFi, & toilet, and the bus/coach driver will handle your luggage for you and put it in the underbelly of the coach. (Note that the Brits also (usually) use "coach" for a bus traveling between cities.)

I'm not sure what you mean by "different types of buses" but as mentioned, the Airline is the best way between Oxford and Heathrow and as far as I know the only direct route. They do use different types of buses though, but they are all very comfortable. And yes, you can take a bus the same morning for a 13.00 flight. It takes about 90 minutes, but make sure you allow some time for congestion on the M25 as well as for check in and security. I've used coach several times and never seen it full, but obviously it does happen.

Hi Laura / Badger,
Thank you both for the helpful replies. I'll search the 'Airline' bus website - Travelease

We used this coach service from LHR to Oxford and it was excellent. Reserve an early departure to allow enough time at LHR.

You may find reference to National Express having coaches on this route, but they are actually just reselling the Oxford Bus Company Airline service.

Hi Dick and Marco, thanks for the information in your replies, and for Dick's suggestion to book early.
