I am wondering if this route is the best to get from Heathrow to Cambridge. It came up on the LNER app and was the least expensive.

Have a look at the National Express website for information on direct bus/coach service to Cambridge.from Heathrow. Probably cheapest way of traveling if slightly longer, but you don’t have to worry about changing stations or hauling bags mid journey.

It's certainly a fair route to get to Cambridge. The trains out of Liverpool Street to Cambridge are a little slower than those from St Pancras, but you've got an easy interchange with the Elizabeth Line.
Lesley's idea is probably more sensible if you don't need to go to London for anything before Cambridge.

Liverpool Street to Cambridge is the slowest, yet slightly cheaper train. Twice an hour from Kings Cross station there are fast nonstops which get to Cambridge in about 48 minutes.
All depends on your priorities.

Thanks everyone. We decided to go through Liverpool Street. It takes 2 hours 18 minutes and seems not bad to us and we like trains.
