Heathrow to Henley on Thames by Train or Taxi

My adult rowing team is participating in the Henley Masters Regatta in early July, the week after the famous and fancy one. I am arriving at Heathrow 4 hours before most of my boat. They will likely hire a car to take them to Henley on Thames but since I am in no hurry I thought I would take the train - I am assuming it is cheaper as well.
My flight arrives at 6:40 AM on Wednesday, July 8 at what I think will be Terminal 3. I see that I could take the train to Hayes, then out to Twyford, and connect to Henley but that I could also go into Paddington, take the train to Twyford, connecting to Henley. Any thoughts on which would be better?
If I took the train to Hays - where would I catch it in Heathrow?

And finally any recommendations on taxi companies that provide service between Heathrow and Henley?

Thank you!

The train to Twyford from Paddington passes through Hayes and Harlington station so just get on it there rather than back-tracking. You catch the first train from the TfL Rail / Heathrow Express station.
