Heathrow to Bath

If you are flying in then I would wait and buy them day of. You never know if your flight will be delayed or how long it will take to get to the train station. They are not transferable unless you buy - "anytime" tickets - or "off peak anytime" but I believe those would be the same price as day off. The only way to get deep discounts is to commit to a particular train / time.

There are numerous discussions on how to get to bath from Heathrow if you just use the search function on the forum you will probably get better answers.
