Heathrow T3 to London Bridge Rail Station

Hi All,

Two adults arriving at LHR T3 on a Thursday late May at 12:05 scheduled landing. We are staying at a hotel that’s a short walk from the London Bridge Rail and tube station. Leaving from same hotel for LHR T3 on a Sunday in early June for a 11:15 am departure.

In the past I’ve usually stayed near Trafalgar Square so getting in was just hopping on the Heathrow Express and a short taxi ride to hotel. I’m leaning towards using this same approach for my next trip but wanted to explore the other options.

We will have one 24 inch rolling bag and a carry on for each of us. So the other options seem to be

Tube. Looks like Piccadilly line to green park station and transfer to Jubilee line. I generally don’t like the tube option as I end up feeling as if my bag and I are always getting in the way. It can bet quite crowded. Transfers between lines can involve a number of tunnels, escalators, stairs etc. Trying to get into or out of the fare gate with a bag quickly can be challenging.

Minicabs. From sites like just airports it looks like a prebooked minicabs will run about £50, which I find acceptable for the two of us. My concern is will we be stuck in nasty afternoon traffic getting into London. I’m not as concerned about the unexpected roadworks or accidents but the normal level of congestion if there is such a thing.

So I’m thinking of HEX and taxis to and from Paddington should be fine. But maybe we should consider the minicabs? Especially for the trip to LHR on a Sunday morning. What’s traffic like on a Sunday morning?

Thanks for your help and insight.

If you don't want to take the Tube, don't overspend on taxis. We use Simply Airports. I just did a price quote between Terminal 3 and the London Bridge rail station for a 2pm pickup and the quote is £38.

As Continental stated.

Also, Sunday morning traffic in London is ok. I've always found it reasonably quiet (for London!) and have never experienced any problems getting out even during late morning. The M25 almost resembles a normal motorway at that time too.

Routing via Green Park can be entirely step-free.

Using the Heathrow Express would be about 20 minutes quicker, if that is important to you. From Paddington Bakerloo to Baker Street, cross platform change to Jubilee Line.

I think you like that location. We love staying south of the Thames, especially in May. Each day starts out with a walk on the riverside path. The path will play the music "London Bridge is Falling Down" as you walk Nader the bridge.
