Heathrow T3 to Bath..time required after landing before taking bus to Bath?

Hello fellow traveller's:

I have researched the forum and we believe the best option as recommended by many that the direct coach from Terminal 3 to Bath is the best option following a long jet lagged flight and no need to transfer.
My question to the forum is how much time do we allow ourselves at Heathrow airport ? We land at 1205, the bus direct to Bath departure times are either 1315 or 1530. Obviously we prefer to take the 1315 time however do you think 1 hour is enough time to do that?
We plan to carry our luggage so we will not need to wait for that, it’s just clearing customs. I realize there are two ticket price options so we can possibly change times however we then may risk not having availability with changing on the same day.

We arrive in London on September 8, 1205 so I know I may be a little early booking but hate to not be prepared. ;)
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Cheers,

KS

If the e-gates for Passport control are working you'll be thru quickly. If they are not you won't be. You will not know until the time. And it's Immigration that takes the time (movement of people) over Customs (movement of goods), which is usually just a walk thru some various halls.

I'd buy the flexible ticket and aim for the 1315 but know you can change to the later one if needed. Do not worry about the coach selling out. I don't think they are completely sold so don't add that stress to your planning.

Sometimes inbound planes from the US catch a tail wind and arrive early so keep your fingers crossed on that, lol!!

Thank you so much Pam for the advice, that was what I was thinking would be the best option. I realize there is no way to predict how things will go as with all travel now days expect the worse and hope or prepare for the best. We are leaving from Canada so hope to catch the same tail winds as you would from the US ;)

Thanks again,

Kerry

The airport monitoring sites are currently suggesting people leave an hour from flight to exit. So 1315 is perhaps a bit tight as May and September probably aren't too different for timings.

Personally I would take the train anyway, but if I was doing the coach I would book the later one and then see if I could get on the earlier one on the day if I got there in time

We landed at Heathrow a week ago. We got out very quickly via the e-gates, probably only 35-40 min after landing. And we did land early as a PP said - must’ve caught that tail wind!

They can and do sell out, normally on rail strike days. Take a look for the next few days of strikes. On the west of England routes, where there is a basic rail service on strike days it is not as bad as on routes where no rail service is provided but is still happening.
So it might be best to book on the later bus knowing you have a seat if the earlier one is full (but hoping it isn't), rather than booking on the early bus, missing it then finding the 1530 is full, so having to wait until the 1825.
It's a fine and personal judgement line on risk.
They don't seem to have loaded the best fares in the system yet for September either.

A few days ago, the egates at Heathrow were down and the wait to get through took 2-3 hours.

No one can predict what will happen on the day you arrive. Weigh your options and your risk tolerance.
