Heathrow Strike - implications for Gatwick?

I heard about a Heathrow strike in May

Is there any possibility that this will impact Gatwick too? I’m arriving in May to Gatwick.

My son is arriving May 9 to Heathrow — should he change his flight?

please read the news item carefully.

The strike if Heathrow security staff is only at Heathrow, only in fact in Terminal 5. Some staff have been borrowed from other terminals and it has gone quite smoothly.

Gatwick and City Airports, as well the other terminals at Heathrow and the other smaller London airports, are unaffected.

Hi ds-

From reading the article it seems that’s it’s just Heathrow that will be affected. There’s nothing to suggest any impact at Gatwick. I’m flying out on the last day of the last May strike - joy! But Heathrow said they successfully managed the recent Easter ten day strike and will do so again with these new ones. Equally, British Airways cancelled hundreds of flights. I’ll report back how I get on…assuming I do!

If arriving at Heathrow 2 May is there anything we should be prepared for as far as the strike goes?
Thanks

Based on the strikes in April, it's unlikely to affect Heathrow, let alone Gatwick

There is a general misunderstanding of what these strikes are - at present the people striking are security staff. They check cargo coming in by land and bags coming in from check in.

They do not move bags from airplanes to pickup areas - they do not have anything to do with central search at departures.

T5 is all that is striking at present - this was mitigated last time by flight cancellations and moving some staff. All the airport monitoring websites suggest nothing was changed (aside from the cancelled flights). There is no information to suggest this will be different.
