I'm looking at booking a hotel at Heathrow for the night before our early departure flight home. It would be checking in on Friday June 21 for one night, two adults and two kids. Most reasonably priced hotels are showing no rooms available. Is it typical for rooms to sell out this far in advance? I see that if I change it to a room for 3 there is more availability.
There is a Taylor Swift concert at Wembley that night. You are probably bumping up against that.
One other thing … there are not a lot of hotels with rooms that accommodate 4. Check Premier Inn. They have family rooms that accommodate 4 if the kids are under 16 and they are showing availability on June 21st.
Thanks. I think it's more of an issue with looking for a room for 4 than Taylor Swift. I tried a few other days and saw the same issue. I just found Premier Inn at Terminal 4 that has rooms available. It says it's a 6 minute walk and then a 20 minute train ride to terminal 2, so I'm thinking of booking that just so that I have a place.
That premier inn is a good option. You walk by an elevated enclosed hallway from the hotel to the terminal. Less than 5 minutes. Then, take underground or train to terminal 2. I did this last summer and it is pretty convenient .
I'm not sure I've made that walk in 5 minutes (I'd have guessed at least 10), but I've stayed at the T4 Premier Inn three times and would be glad to do so again. It's usually very well-priced compared to the competition. I usually head out there the night before any flight home from London.
Good luck with your hotel that night! I love the tunnel that one has. And breakfast seems like a good price! I was also looking at that Premier inn for July, but to fly out of terminal 5 the next morning. I wonder if its just as easy to get to Term 5 from this Premier Inn? Walk or bus or tube? 2 of us with carry ons. [The Premiere Inn for Term 5 doesn't look as nice as the Term 4 and it looks like its far across the airport property.] Any thoughts?
Not hard to get to terminal 5, just tube from 4 to 5 or Heathrow Express. All free.
To go from Terminal 4 to terminal 5, you have a choice of Underground (tube), Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line.
But none go directly to Terminal 5. You have to first go to Terminal 2/3, cross the platform, and take another train to Terminal 5. Adds about 10 minutes to the journey. (The tube is most frequent.)
But we're still not talking about it being difficult.
For the tube you need to access it with either an Oyster Card or contactless payment but you won't be charged.
For the other two, you get a free transfer ticket.
Just make sure you are not traveling outside the hours of operation.
