Heathrow Feltham?

Another travel site suggested staying in Feltham at the Travel lodge as a viable option when one has the dual purpose of visiting legoland and a departure from heathrow slightly before noon the following day. The price for a room is a third of what I am paying for our london hotel. Originally I was going to day trip to Legoland and Hampton on different days from london. I plan to use the 2-4-1 offer for legoland. If I took Sw train from london to legoland it would cost £19 round trip. Staying in Feltham I would not have the option of using the "Hoppa" shuttle for the sheridan hotel but many posts on the other site have said it feels like the Hoppa takes hours to circle the hotels. I do not have a car seat for my child -so I think I cannot take a taxi? Do you think Feltham is a good option for my purposes? Thank you.

I will start off by saying I've never stayed there but the only 2 things I have heard of the area are the difficulties around the Feltham Young Offenders Institution - the hardest teenager detention centre in the country - and family and friends and enemies coming through the district, a reason I would avoid Feltham, and the stories a couple of years ago in all the London papers of the prostitution rings who made the Feltham Travelodge their homes.

How, if at all, it has changed in 2 years I don't know.

It does get definately split reviews on TripAdvisor, tending to poor.

That said, it certainly would be convenient for your two goals.

THANK YOU, Nigel! Yes, neither of those things were mentioned. You saved me from a potentially unpleasant travel experience with my child! PI or Sheridan Heathrow it is.
Do you think it is better to day trip from London to Hampton and legoland or visit from heathrow hotel?

I have used this Travel Lodge a number of times over the years and have had no problems whatsoever. The 285 to Heathrow runs all night but can be busy talking people to work there from 4am.

Looked at the TripAdvisor reviews which IMO on balance are more positive now than negative after the refurbishment. Have never had breakfast here myself though.

I could only find one news reference to prostitution and that was back in 2012, in several sources. The people concerned were banned from all Travelodges, so they have probably moved on to Premier Inns.

The only hotel I can recall being offered services of this kind in London was the Regent Palace Hotel, by a woman in the lift. This hotel of course is long gone, now being Quadrant 3.

(A post had gone which this was a kind of reply to.)

I spent five years working in Feltham. I wouldn't have an issue staying in the hotel as long as you are not planning on wandering around Feltham in the evening. It is pretty rough and there are some gang problems (although it's not like LA!). It's okay if you are used to the area, but visitors tend to stick out. The bus routes that service the young offender's institution can be a little hairy and a friend was robbed at 3pm on one.

Is the Premier Travel Inn that is in Hayes an option? The Heathrow bus stop is pretty much right outside although I am not sure what would be the best way to get to Legoland. I have stayed there a few times and was very happy with it.
