Heathrow connections: Oct. 8 Terminal 3 to Terminal 5; Oct. 19 Terminal 5 to Terminal 5

I have flown to/from Heathrow many times, but (with one exception) always originated or terminated at Heathrow. I am asking this question on behalf of friends unfamiliar with Heathrow. They are US citizens. One ticket for entire flight. Carry on bags only.

On Oct. 8, their flight from Charlotte is scheduled to land at Terminal 3 at 7:40 a.m....then they depart for Budapest from Terminal 5 at 9:55 a.m. My understanding is that 2 hr. 15 min. is a very doable connection IF they arrive in Terminal 3 on time and promptly deplane/proceed to Terminal 5...BUT if their arrival at Terminal 3 is delayed, their connection may be a tight/they may be rebooked on a later flight to Budapest.
This is how I think it will work:
After deplaning, follow signs for Connecting Flights (stay on secured side; do NOT exit secured side to Terminal 3 check in/baggage claim)
Bus to terminal 5
Security screening (will this take place in Terminal 3 or 5?)
Passport control - will not need to go through Passport control bc are not entering UK. Am I right?
In Terminal 5, enter main Departure Lounge; read overhead signs for gate announcement; proceed to gate

On Oct. 19, they are scheduled to land from Prague at Terminal 5 at 11:40 a.m. then depart from Terminal 5 at 2:55 p.m.
This is how I think it will work:
After deplaning, follow signs for Connecting Flights (stay on secured side; do NOT exit secured side to Terminal 5 check in/baggage claim)
Security screening in Terminal 5
Passport control - will not need to go through Passport control bc are not entering UK. Am I right?
Enter Terminal 5's main Departure Lounge; read overhead signs for gate announcement; proceed to gate

Thanks for your insights!

Go to Heathrow’s website and then to Heathrow Connects. Add dates and flight numbers. It gives
you clear directions on what you need to do, where to go, etc. It made everything so easy to do.
