Heathrow arrival- how long to expect?

Hello-
We (2 well-traveled adults) arrive at HRW at 7:45 AM on a Thurs. How long should we expect baggage, passport control to take? We will need to get an Oyster Card/Travel Card and then head to our hotel near Earl's Court via tube.
Any chance we could make it to a walking tour at Westminster Abbey by 10:45? This is a London Walks tour so no need to book in advance but if we could get there it would make the rest itinerary much easier!

Thanks

Do you know which Heathrow terminal will host your arrival? They may differ in terms of time to go through immigration. Your type of aircraft and position of your seats can also make a difference. People way in the back will end up at the back of the immigration queue.

There is also the issue of delays in your flight or in your landing position. We generally have to circle oneon more times over London ( great views) befor landing, so rarely have a truly "on time" arrival.

Thank you Lola for your quick response. It's helpful
Terminal 3, and our seats are mid plane. As I said we would love to make that tour- but realize it is iffy. We usually leave our arrival day quite fluid, but this specific tour would just be perfect- if we can get to it!
I guess we'll play it by ear and have a Plan B.

Say an hour to get through the airport, so if your flight is on time, say 9am. Piccadilly line is quickest. The journey itself is 35 minutes plus time to get to the platform and wait for the next train, so say 9.45 at the Earl's Court station. Walk to your hotel and bag drop/check in by at the earliest 10.10. Back to the tube station, then it's 20 minutes by tube/walking to the Abbey plus waiting say 10 minutes for a train. If everything runs smoothly, you may just be there if you run by 10.45, but it's more likely to be 11am.

Plus, as you presumably don't know your way round London, my timings maybe optimistic.
