All passenger terminals at Heathrow have now commissioned their new scanners.
Thus the 100ml liquids limit has been raised to 2 litres, the use of plastic baggies for liquids has been discontinued, and electronic items no longer have to be removed from luggage to be checked.
Gatwick, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol and Belfast have also upgraded to 2 liters and no baggie.
Other UK airports are waiting for approval to upgrade. Until then its 100ml and baggies.
Also remember, for the EU it's still a 100ml limit in carry on.
Wow, that will make a nice change at Heathrow. I still remember their TSA type folks handing out their zip bags while other people were yelling in the big security zone.

Keep in mind if you connect in the USA the restriction will still be in place.
