Heathrow Airport - on arrival from US how long to get through customs?

It will be out first trip to England and we are flying into Heathrow from the US.
I am trying to schedule a taxi for service to Windsor.
Our flight arrives at 7:20 am, at what time should I schedule the taxi to pick us up?
We will not be checking any luggage only carry on baggage.
I believe we will be able to use the epassport gates?
Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Depends on how many aircraft are landing at the same time as you. Passenger numbers are the biggest factor in your case. If you can use the e-gates (and if they decide to work) then you should be through very quickly depending on how many are in the queue before you (usually not many). The part that takes the longest is the walk from your arrival gate and no-one here can provide any advice on where that will be.

Customs is a walk through unless you have any goods to declare.

Here’s a discussion from a couple of days ago for a different set of circumstances but I gave our recent (July 13) account. I thought our experience was record breaking but I wouldn’t expect anything shorter. It all depends so much on the number of planes arriving at the same time, flight delays at the onset of your flight, etc.

Like you, we didn't check. We have epassports. We were through in a snap. It took longer to find our driver outside the gate than to get through customs.
