Have to be in Hounslow but don't want to stay there

I have to be in Hounslow for a couple of days on business. I've read and heard a few negative things about eating and staying in Hounslow so I'm willing to commute a little bit if I can stay in decent neighbourhood with a few more options for restaurants, hotels and some walkable streets to browse in the evenings.

Any recommendations?

Do you mean Hounslow as in the town or Hounslow as in the Borough? If the former then I would agree that you should look elsewhere but if you mean the latter then tell us the actual town and will be able to advise better as there are some nice towns in the borough. If the town of Hounslow then consider Twickenham, Richmond or even Windsor.

Hounslow isn’t pretty, but there’s nothing wrong with it and it’s a typical London suburb that’s handy for Heathrow. Chiswick a few tube stops away is more upmarket and has plenty restaurants and shops.

When I look at the map it's in a location called Heathrow Corporate Park, Green Lane, Hounslow. I will not be driving but will be cabbing it.

I agree with others who have suggested Twickenham, Richmond or Chiswick. We stayed in Twickenham a few years ago, just to the south of Hounslow. We especially enjoyed walking and dining in Richmond and Chiswick.

The High Street in Hounslow (don't think it is called High Street, though) has a lot of ethnic restaurants, as well as a Nando's. It really is fascinating to see the many different countries and cultures represented there in the restaurants and shops as well as on the street.

We stay in Hounslow the night before a morning flight out of Heathrow. You can't beat the convenience. My wife was skeptical at first, but I think she'd go back just to sample some of the different restaurants.

If you see want to see a different side of London, I wouldn't avoid Hounslow.
