Hello,
My husband and I will be traveling to England in mid June. I've read all of Rick Steves guides on England and mapped out things to do. I'm having trouble arranging travel (we don't want to drive) and hotels and making it all come together. Has anyone used Rough Guide trip planners to arrange your trip for you? If so, what was your experience?
Rough Guides are a very well known guide book brand (in my view well ahead of Rick Steves' books if I'm allowed to say that on here!). But I have no experience of any planning tool they have, presumably online and I wouldn't use it.
Not the planning tool, but they are my "go to" guide, aside from Rick Steves. The style of travel and sense of place meets my style, which admittingly, may not be for everyone. They are more budget (though recommend some higher end venues) than say Frommers or Fodors, but provide more background, history, and local suggestions than Lonely Planet (which really is a shell of what it once was)
I love Rough Guide books, and noticed their new "Tailor-Made Travel" offer a couple of years ago. I wouldn't do it, but I like planning my own trips. However, I would certainly trust them to do a good job. You could always get a quote and see what the cost is, and whether it would be worth it.
UkTravelPlanning UKTP on Facebook is excellent. They have great posts pod cast and helped me with my itinerary. With a video. And document. Amazing people. Tracy and Doug.
