Has anyone used 2 for 1 offer Westminster Abbey's ticket?

Hi All,

I read that Westminster Abbey currently offers a 2 for 1 price if visiting London by UK National Rail and Express Coaches. However, I have not seen this ticket info on their website (but seen it on the National Express Coaches website).

My questions:
1. I plan to get into London by Heathrow Express train. Does this train ticket valid for 2 for 1 promo? The arrival date is on 28th June, the visiting date is on 29th June.
as for the trip, I'm still not sure whether i'd like to use Oyster, travelcard or single tix as most of my itinerary is within walking distance.

  1. Could I buy the ticket online with this offer as I try to purchase the 2 tix online without any info for 2 for 1 offer at the Abbey's website? Perhaps there's another website such as this one where we could buy the tix online included the offer? https://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/london-eye OR i could only purchase the ticket in the spot providing the print out voucher? if this is the case, where could i print out the voucher for the Abbey?

TIA

oh my reading my post, i forgot about the bulleting format in RS >_<

thanks so much for clarifying it. really appreciate it. also, i find that we could buy the tix online so we should still be able to get the fast track entry . from the web daysoutguide, we'd be redirected to the attractions' own website and just input the promo code there (put 1 in the quantity instead of 2).

hi emma,
yes i also feel that even the major attractions are not that close with the railworks (i normally prefer train than buses) so it's going to be a lot of walkings in London. i'm still thinking either the oyster or travelcard as i have not finished my itinerary yet but looking at how much i could save with 2-4-1 i think the GBP12 day travelcard could offer more value. the oyster could not be used with the 2-4-1 promo.

hi harleydonski
thanks so much for the link. i found another one in fodor but years ago and it seems (perhaps the info was not widely spread too), the regulation for the railcard accompanying the 2-4-1 wasn't as strict as now. many just bring their online tix and show their voucher. not sure if the tix is really checked or not though.

update : the promo 2-4-1 is only available to be bought online for London Eye in my case. Westminster Abbey and St Paul's do not offer them online which correcting to my previous post , not entitled for the fast track entry . the daysoutguide only offers to print out the voucher unlike London Eye that has incorporated the promo into their online system

cheers

What train ticket or travelcard will you show to get the 2-4-1 offer at London Eye?

I was asking Jen what she plans to use as it seems from her post above the "update" that she read somewhere that you may not have to show a train ticket, you just have the voucher, or the online purchase for the London Eye. That is not enough---when we were there last year we had to show the actual rail ticket or paper Travelcard, and they looked at it each time. Just want to be sure she know that her purchased London Eye 2-4-1 tickets will not be valid without the train ticket, and it can't be a Heathrow Express ticket.

Hi Sasha,

i plan to buy the day travelcard in conjunction with the 2-4-1 promo. i have not calculated all the fare trips for London but i guess the savings couldn't beat 2-4-1 promo especially with 2 attractions a day. before finding the promo, i plan to purchase the oyster card

If you use the vouchers, you still have to wait in line, correct? I just want to make sure I am understanding that clearly. I'm curious what the wait time is typically in July. Yikes!

Yes, we still need to queue buying the tix, showing the voucher n the travelcard. I also wonder how long would be the queue.luckily London Eye allows us to buy the tix online, thus could skip the tix queue at least. Otherwise there'd be too much standing and queueing for me within a day. I plan to watch the changing guards too in the morning!

It seems to me that you are doing everything you can to experience what you see as a true English experience on this trip.

For a proper British experience, queue.

That's what we do. If we see a queue we join it.

Finding ways to avoid queuing is foreign to us (and in many ways typically North American). I don't know how you deal with queues where you are from, because you have never told us more than "in my country".

Hi Nigel,
By no means I'm going to actually skip or grab someone's queue from the conversation above. What I'm saying is that it's actually written in the Abbey's website also, if we buy it online, anywhere along the queue we could give the tix to the officer and they'd move us to front line. This is the advantage that we could not get at all if we use the 2-4-1 promo.

London Eye is the same, though we could buy the tix using 2-4-1 promo online, we just skip the tix queue but still have to queue for the entrance.

I'm no Paris Hilton just a normal person, don't have the privilege of skipping queues for sure :)
