UPDATE: Has anyone tried lately to visit #1 Royal Crescent museum in Bath without a timed ticket?

I am not sure I will be able to make a reservation online ahead of time. They say they have limited walkin tickets available, but has anyone tried that?? What was the result, did you get a ticket or were you disappointed?

I don’t know if April counts as lately, but I just bought a ticket at the door. There were perhaps 4 other people there when I was, on a Tuesday, and it’s a rather quick visit, maybe 30 minutes. I did find it interesting and enjoyed seeing inside one of the houses.

Thanks, Christa. This is the type information I was looking for. I will be there in mid September and hope it won't be any busier then.

We have been there last Wednesday afternoon ( about 3 pm) without prebooked tickets.
No queue, we just walked in, bought the ticked and had to wait for about 5 minutes to go into the first room (There are
clocked video and audio sequences in the rooms you may follow).

Paul636, thank you so much. I will quit worrying about it now and just start looking forward to my visit.

Hi Laurie. I was there a couple weeks ago. I had used the 2020 Rick Steves book to plan a pre-Covid trip that got delayed to this summer. Please note that the schedule has changed. We planned a Monday visit, but it was closed. Several other Bath attractions were closed on Monday also. I was able to squeeze in No. 1 Royal Crescent on Wednesday morning when they opened and had no problem purchasing my ticket at the door. I wish you the best! Alison

Thanks, aj_brock. I didn't realize that and now have the opportunity to switch my calendar around.

Be aware-the Jane Austen Festival is Sept 9-18. I'm sure that will be busy.

Oh, dear. I wish I could change my dates to avoid the Festival (I hate crowds.) but I will be on a R Steves tour starting the 13th. Maybe I will try to book a ticket to #1 Royal Crescent museum for that morning. Luckily I already scheduled a Mad Max tour for the 14th so I won't be in Bath that day and the next day we go out of town on the tour. Since I was last in Bath in 2018 and have done all the activities listed for the "Bath day" felt comfortable scheduling something else. I know the tour guide won't mind and I will be sure and let he and my buddy know I will not be joining them that day.

I've gone to Bath for the JA festival (a few days before my Best of England tour, lol!!) and really the crowds were not any worse on the weekend than they normally are (pre-covid). It's just that half the people are in Regency era costume which is very cool!! The biggest "crowd" was the Grand Promenade where costumed people walk thru the street from the Bath Assembly rooms to Bath Abbey. Again, it was so much fun seeing everyone dressed up! Gorgeous costumes! That takes place on Saturday Sept 10 at 11A.

I emailed the Director of the Museum since the website showed no tickets available after 8 Sept. She told me they were only offering "Jane Austen in Bath" experience tickets the rest of Sept and gave me the link directly to that ticket site (it is just to the right of the regular ticket 'box'.) I went in and was successful in booking a timed ticket for 13 Sept. Thank you, everyone, for the comments. I so wanted to visit this museum.
