Has Anyone Transferred from LCY to LHR?

I have done some online research on this issue - But I would like to hear from anybody who has actually taken a flight to LCY from "the continent" and transferred to LHR for a flight back to the states on the same day. American has given us four hours to accomplish this feat. These were the only award flights we could get with American's "Mile Saver" option.

I am thinking about canceling the ORY to LCY flight and spending our last night in the London area instead of in Paris - but I would like to stay in Paris if possible.

Thanks for your feedback.

Journey time via public transport between the two is a solid one hour twenty minutes. Immigration (and bag collection if you need it) is fairly swift at LCY. As it is a single ticket you would be protected onto a future flight via AA or possibly BA.

DLR to Canning Town, Jubilee to Green Park and Piccadilly to Heathrow is TfL's suggestion. If following this one go all the way to the surface at Green park and back down again. You can in theory save 20 minutes via the Heathrow Express from Paddington.

Four hours will be tight.

First you will go through immigration at LCY that shouldnT take too long. Then it's between 1:15 and 1:30 to get from LCY to LHR. If the first flight is on time you should make it. Any delays--flight, transport--and you could be in trouble.

I flew into LCY yesterday and originally we were supposed to land on time but had to go around due to a problem with the plane landing in front of us.

It's recommended to be at LHR 3 hours before departure for transatlantic flights. Which means, assuming your flight arrives on time, you have an hour to deplane at LCY, get out of the airport, and head across London.

Not possible.

One difference here is that AA will know that the OP is connecting on a route they sold and will already be checked in. As always though these connections would be easier without checked luggage, even @ LCY.

Is it possible to change your flight and give yourself one more day in London between flights?
Can the flight from Heathrow to the USA be bumped to one day later?

For the record, I’ve never transferred between LCY and LHR but I have flown out of both airports many times.

I am assuming this is all a single award ticket. While, I’d never choose a routing that required transfer from LCY to LHR under normal circumstances, I think the connection could be done assuming your inbound flight arrives on time. I would ask yourself the following questions:

-Will rushing between airports on public transit stress you out?

-What would be the impact if you missed your connection? Check for later flights from LHR to your home airport. Is it likely that you could get on a later flight the same day or would you need to wait until the following day?

Definitely contact AA and find out who bears the cost if you fail to get to/through LHR in time for that flight.

Under what circumstances, if any, is the airline responsible and under what circumstances you would be responsible for the cost.

I did call AA and the Advantage CSR turned out to be helpful. AA wouldn't just cancel the ORY - LCY flight; but they changed the ORY to LCY flight to the night before.

One less thing to worry about!
