Has any one tried air bnb before ?

Hi, We will be in London this June. Just wondering if any has try air bnb and what was their experiences? We have been to London before and stayed at a hotel in Kensington . Location was good . There will be 4 of us traveling . We did an apartment rental 3 years ago for 4 nights in Rome as recommended by one of posters in the forum and it was great . We were still able to bond at the end of the day and discuss our plans for the next day whereas with a hotel , we usually go back to our rooms at the end of the day. Thanks for your help

I have rented apartments using VRBO, Homeaway and for my upcoming trip Airbnb. I've rented a studio apartment through Airbnb in London for next September. I haven't stayed there yet, but the booking and communication has been easy. I plan to use them for more reservations for that trip.

airbnb is great! We've used them in Europe, the US, South America, Hawaii...all great experiences. I always prefer apartments or houses to hotels. I like feeling "at home" wherever I am. I've also used VRBO and have had similar experiences! There are many great options.

Used it 12-15 times and am trolling on it for places to stay in Paris and NY.
We've had varying success. We've enjoyed all our stays, but some were better then others. We've had some great budget stays (Florence), an amazing almost like a four star hotel in Santa Barbara (the bedroom was divine!), a hostess in Villefranche who cooked us supper and took us for a drive to a neighbouring village, a host who picked us up at the train station in Bath, saving us taxi fees or a bit of a walk with our luggage.
My tips: always always always read the reviews! #1 thing!

Check the map tab to see what area it's located in and if it's close to public transport. Use the street view tab if it's available to get a feel for the neighbourhood (does it look sketchy or clean?). Make sure it has the amenities you want - wifi...laundry...smoking or non...parking if you'll have a car...elevator...a/c or heat...use of kitchen. I tend to avoid the ones with the cleaning fees, but that's just me. Love airbnb and recommend it.

Thanks. To me, Anita phrase it correctly that I like feeling ' At Home ' when I travel. Thanks to Andrea and Nicole too,I will try to research and read the reviews for apartment rentals.

I have booked with airbnb for my upcoming trip and hope it is a great experience. The site is easy to navigate and I have had good responses and feel pretty confident in my choices. I will post when my trip ends
