We are looking to maybe go on a Harry Potter tour and the available times are like 18:30. So I have read that doing this tour can take all day but am not sure how that is if it starts at 18:30.
I just don’t have much info on this so could someone explain what a day from London to the HP studios would be like and if it is worth doing if the available time is 18:30?
Thanks!
What dates are you looking at? Some months the closing is at 20:00Hrs. Other months it closes at 22:00Hrs. If it's an earlier closing, then an 18:30 entrance won't leave you enough time. A later closing will. They say the average touring time is 3 1/2 hrs. We took about 6 hours, but that included lunch. The website is full of information.
If travelling on your own, you will take a train from Euston Station to Watford Junction, and then the HP Tour bus to the Studios. After you are done, reverse the process.
We were thinking May, 8,9 or 10. But I think we are too late to get morning tickets so it may have to wait for another time.
Thank you for your response.
Ah, yes. You waited too long. Prime times get booked up several months in advance. Although, if this was a priority, you might still find morning tickets at a ridiculously higher price through one of the tour companies like Golden tours.
mistimetotravel, I just checked and the HP Studio Tour is open until 22:00 hours both that Friday and Saturday.
So conceivably, if you got the 6 pm (on Friday) or 6:30 pm (Sat.) tickets, that would still give you 3 1/2 to 4 hours there until it closes at 10 pm. I can understand if you choose not to do that (I'm not a night owl, so I probably would not) but at least the option is there. :-)
Thanks so much everyone. We have decided to save this tour for a later trip when we can start earlier in the day.
For future reference, Harry Potter studio tours tend to book completely up two to three months in advance. Two months out, totally booked. Three months out, limited availability but you can still find something in the afternoon. I'll be at the studio in early May and I booked a tour and afternoon tea back in mid-January. Even then, time slots were limited, especially in the mornings.
We did the Golden tour, I think in 2017, because we couldn't get direct tickets. It was a little more expensive but dead simple. They played one of the movies on the bus drive and dropped us right at the studios. We had plenty of time to see everything we wanted to, and made it back to London in time for our tea at F&M.
And as a check on current Golden Tour HP Studio Tour tickets, on May 8 the price is £119 (US$155) per adult.
Just the ticket, from the official HPST website, is £56.
