Has anyone taken the Harry Potter tour? What time tour did you book? I'd like to use public transit to reduce the overall cost and am wondering if anyone has done that too and how long it takes. I'll be going in April 2014.
Hello Michelle,
I have never gone but I have had family that have. From what they've told me, it's a great tour if you are a Harry Potter fan, and well worth it. My family and I are traveling in September and are planning on going on the tour. As for booking, you can do it online from their website. The site also gives you great advise on how to get there and there are other post on Rick's site with more info about the tour. The cost depends on the size of you're group but you do save money by taking the train and bus yourself rather than buying it all on the site, at least that's what my sister said and from what I've read, it's correct. Good luck and have fun.

Yes, I have taken the tour and used public transportation to get there. We were booked on the 9:30 am tour, the second start time of the day. I was nervous to book the very first tour because if public transportation did not work out perfectly, I didn't want to miss it, but they will let you in after your tour time too. We were coming from the Trafalgar Square area and took the tube to London Euston, then a train to Watford Junction. From there, we waited for the bus to the studio tour. It is well marked and you can't miss it. It is covered in Harry Potter. We each bought a return ticket on the bus for £2. The studio tour bus dropped us close to the entrance of the building and when we were ready to leave, we went to a waiting area that I also remember as being decently marked to get on another HP bus back to Euston station. I think I allotted an hour and a half to make the journey and it took much less time. We did seem to have hit the timing just right and hardly had to wait anywhere. I also think we were on a faster train from Euston to Watford Junction, maybe an express or something. We waited around for a bit before we could get in to the tour. There is plenty to look at in the gift shop though and a coffee shop and snack bar if you have to wait. The only remotely stressful part of the journey was finding the right bus stand at Watford Junction to catch the bus to the tour, but there is NO way you can miss which bus it is once it arrives.

As for the tour itself, we were there for around 6 hours. There is a lot to see and it gets progressively more crowded as the day goes on, so I would book for as early as you feel comfortable getting there.
