We are coming in July for two week visit to London and Scotland. We were hoping to go from Heathrow straight to Hampton court castle but running into luggage storage issues. I have checked all the usual sites and the closest I can find is in Kingston. Does anyone know of any closer ? I am aware of the lockers but the dimensions are too small for our luggage. The website also notes they no longer allow for them to be left on site as they once were.
What mode of transport are you using to get from Heathrow to Hampton Court, and thence from HC to London.
If you are doing what I would do and taking the #111 bus then it is only 10 minutes beyond Hampton Court to Kingston, and the buses run every 12 minutes, supplemented by the 411 every 18 minutes and the 216 every 32 minutes.
There is a frequent rail service from Kingston to London.
The faster bus route from Heathrow to Kingston is the SL7 (Croydon bound)- 35 minutes, runs every 13 minutes. SL7 is a limited stop fast service.
You should be able to use the BusHoppa £1.75 fare from Heathrow to HC via Kingston using the SL7 route as that is valid for 62 minutes after your first boarding.
In all honesty it would be smarter to check into your accommodation after clearing immigration.
That way you can unpack, freshen up and explore the neighborhood where you are staying. Make time to locate a coffee shop, market, and closest underground station. Let your senses adapt to the sights, sounds and smells. Let your brain adjust to the fact the traffic flows differently.
Buy some bottled water.
Definitely check the Stasher website though.
Over the years luggage storage facilities at public sites and train stations have been phased out.
My guess is the reality of terrorism is a factor in the closure luggage storage facilities.
Where are you arriving from?
Where are you staying that night?
These are all great suggestions. I believe we have checked into all the luggage storage including stasher, bounce, etc. we are coming in from Heathrow and staying close to Waterloo station. We are trying to not backtrack and lose time.
Then really Kingston on Thames seems to be your best option- or at least better than going into London and back out again- I, too, checked the various options before posting.
I don't see that as a significant diversion, and all trains from Kingston go into Waterloo.
