Hampton Court from London by Boat

Anyone had any experience doing this? Thoughts?

Yes, many years ago. If you do it, only take the boat one way - it can be a very long trip. It can also be very cold on the water, even if its summer - take some warm clothes.

Interesting getting away from the centre, going through locks etc. Take the boat out and the train back (train station just across the bridge from Hampton Court).

I’ve done it. Was a chilly November boat ride but enjoyable.

I'm with Katy....if you take the boat, just do it one way. Long ago and far away I did the boat both ways. It seemed interminable on the way back. I also did the boat from Kew Gardens back to Westminster Pier in 2018. Hampton Court is further upriver than Kew and still that seemed like a long trip. We took the Underground out and boat back and it was good to be forced to sit for a 1.5 hours.

Bottom line...I'm impatient and boats are slow. If you are a transportation enthusiast or want to build in some sitting time, I'd do it.

I'm not getting a, "super fun," vibe so I'll pass this along to my wife who thought it might be. haha. Thanks!

I think it is quite fun in good weather - but as said by others one way is sufficient. There are arguments about which way; in the summer I might want to return. In bad weather though skip.

Train out and then, if weather is good, take boat back. You board the boat at the dock by Hampton Court. An alternative is to take boat from Hampton Court, get off at Richmond and wander about seeking Ted Lasso prior to taking train to London.
