Hammersmith or Putney?

I am trying to decide between two B&B's. one in Putney and one in Hammersmith. My husband and I enjoy exploring local neighborhoods, history, architecture, and of course a good local pub. I would appreciate any comments on these two areas that might help me with my choice.

Good bus and tube connections at Hammersmith for exploring the area.

Transport from Putney isn't that bad although the two underground stations aren't the best located being kind of on the fringe. There are a number of useful bus routes and the national rail station is more central.

Not that you've settled on your neighborhood I'll chime in with a pub recommend. Hoping it hasn't been turned into a wine bar or slick gastro pub but a few years back I enjoyed a lovely meet up with old friends at the Queen's Head. Cheers.

We stayed in Hammersmith for a week and found it to be a good option, There are a number of Pubs in the area, several like the Dartmouth Castle and the Stonemasons Arms are more the Gastropub place, better food but more expensive. The Hop Poles is more bar, food OK, but not great, we really liked the Hammersmith Ram, nice old pub, good food, reasonably priced. There is also a Wagamama Noodle bar nearby, and further up Shepard Bush Rd is Kerbisher and Malt, a top rated fish and chip place. Of course there are dozens of Indian restaurants, as many Caffe Nero and Starbucks, several Pret a Mangers and a couple Grocery and department stores.

Just go on google and explore, lots around there, great transit connections, I would suggest taking the bus some of the time, cheap way to tour the town.

Now if only you'd gone to Putney you could have enjoyed the Sculpture Trail along the riverside. Well of course you still can ...
