GWR app and website update

One could hope that it is more user friendly to visitors. My impression a couple years ago that it might be fine for resident, regular users, but I found it essentially worthless for anything other than timetable info as a visitor. It would not make my tickets available for display, the payment was wonky, so hopefully much improved.

Reminder, the website and app has now been updated, so your password needs to be reset, although you can reuse your old one.

No idea yet whether it will be any better for overseas users.

There was some talk that they were removing stand alone seat reservations (without ticket purchase), but that remains. I have just made a trial reservation (on an Avanti West Coast train I can't physically travel on) for this afternoon, just to prove that point.

Not more user friendly. When I reset my password, it kept telling me to enter a valid email address even though I did enter my accurate email address. Stuck :(

Note....if you are outside the UK, you will get a notice that the "app works best inside the UK and you should use the website instead. If you are trying to download tickets outside the UK, do so when in the UK."

I tried to do a search on the app and I kept getting "techinical problems" messages. I tried the search on the website and had no problems.

I'm outside the UK. So, it must be blocking IP addresses outside the UK.

Of course, you could try using a VPN. I tried it with a UK based location and the app worked fine.
