Guided bus tour recommendations

Hello,

I would like to ask which bus companies offer better value for sightseeing in London. Planning first day itinerary and would appreciate recommendations. Just an hour or two would suffice and allow me time to get acquainted with the city and save my energies for walking the museums and galleries for the remaining days there. I have already booked the "Duck Tour" which I love and try to book ahead of time where ever my travels take me.

Thank you,

TK

I would suggest that you go to the site www.tripadvisor.com and look at all the tours that have been reviewed. There are dozens of tours in greater London area.
You will get a good idea what others have experienced.

Oh, it is good to know that they were allowed back onto the river after their incidents. I remember when they were taken off.

I thought they had ceased trading after that.

That's more competition.

Evan Evans day bus tours are very thorough.

Thanks all!

I read on Fodor's forum that the double decker buses had some trouble with low branches and injuries to customers! Hope that has been addressed by what ever governmental agency oversees maintenance of neighborhood streets. I follow TA frequently and will recheck their suggestions on this topic.

Hi Harleydonski!

Oh my! That cinches it. No longer interested in a double decker open top variety. I am looking at Viator full day London sightseeing. As the Tower of London and Changing of the Guards are on my to do list, seems a reasonable option with the addition of commentary by one of the Blue Badge guides I have been reading about.

My reply was somewhat lighthearted, never heard of a problem with the tour buses in London caused by the top deck hitting anything, the only thing that's likely to be a problem is getting stuck in London traffic.

I believe that Viator tours outsources their tours to a third party. You never know what you are going to get. Many times I have read very negative reviews about their tours in various locations in the world. An American Express travel agent once told us she didn't suggest using them. You can go to the Evan Evans site and see the tour options they offer.
