Great Walking Tours

Hello everyone. I've been getting some very good information and help here so I wanted to say thank you very much.

My new question is, I've read the Rick Steves book on London but I wanted some first hand experience on Great Walking Tours in London. My group includes myself, my wife, and our two 14 year old daughters. We enjoy history, art, and having fun.

Thanks

if you do a search on this forum ( search bar up the top) there should be lots of previous posts on this topic.
have you considered the london city walk on the RS europe app ?
we did it last year and its good for a look around london city. free and works well.

we find they are also a bit of fun when there are two people listening to them. a bit like a treasure hunt sometimes.

hope this helps.

We have done several of the Rick Steves' self-guided walks in his book. I find these to be worth doing in every city we visit.

London Walks does an excellent job. Some groups tend to be too large so if 75 people show up, you might decide if that is going to work for you. No reservations, you just show up. We particularly like them for outdoor itineraries. We used them for a Westminster Abbey tour and then benefit was that on a very busy day with a huge line outside, we were able to skip the line. However, it was difficult to tour the church with so many people and on a second visit during a less busy time-of-year with no lines, we toured again and we thought the audio guide did a better job than the tour guide in the crowded situation.

Last trip we did a tour with Brit Movie Tours which was fun. they have several itineraries.

Another vote for London Walks. I always do at least one each time I'm in London. They are fabulous!

Yes to London Walks. The guides we had for Tower of London and Greenwich were terrific for teenagers.

Wholeheartedly agree London Walks are great BUT last year I took another walking tour in an area of London that has vastly evolved over the past few years. With 14 year olds I suggest you consider

http://www.shoreditchstreetarttours.co.uk/. You might also reserve ahead for a walking tour of Highgate Cemetary. Its like nothing you've ever seen but you must reserve in advance.

I would also consider taking the tube to Hampstead and walking through the Heath. Enjoy its beauty, dogs romping, locals picnicking, children playing, etc. Same can be said for Hyde and Regents Parks.

Enjoy your stay.
