Great Britain trip - Want to see a Manchester United game

I have received great advice on this board in the past and know that the more details I provide, the better advice I can get. Thanks in advance to all the reply. My family is planning on doing a tour of GB next Easter (14 or 15 days of April, 2017), flying open jaw (using London and Edinburgh). On the trip will be my wife and kids (14 year old son, 13 year old daughter). My 72 year old Mother may come. Everyone has international travel experience and travels well. Between London and Edinburgh we plan on going to South Wales (there is a castle/village the shares the same name as our last name), the Cotswolds, and Manchester. We may do day trips from London. We definately do day trips from Edinburgh.

While I welcome feedback on the overall trip, the question I would love answered is how I can get tickets to see a Manchester United game. My son and I are diehard fans. During the two weekends that we will be on the trip, they have a home game vs. Chelsea and an away game against Burnley. Hopefully there will be cup games during the week while we are on the trip.

I have searched options on the internet. It looks like there is zero chance to get tickets to the away game. With Chelsea being a big rival, I am not optimistic about getting tickets for the home game. My guess is that if there is a home Europa League game during the week, that may be an easier ticket. For the home game, everyone going to the game has to become a club member (I think it is about 30 pounds) and that does not mean we will get tickets. That just means we have a chance to get tickets.

I don't want to say money is no object, but we are looking at this as a once in a lifetime dream come true. Any advice on how we can get tickets is much appreciated.

Look into the hospitality packages for Old Trafford that are sold from around £175 upwards. Pricey maybe, but not so much if for you it would be an experience of a lifetime?

In regards cup games, there are no confirmed dates yet, but going off last year the FA Cup semis were in April (which are held at Wembley), while the Europa League quarters/semis were that month. Both of these hinge on Man U getting there, of course.

By all means give getting tix for the Chelsea game a go. Look into hospitality packages first, and if too pricey then try the general membership route. It will be difficult to get tickets, but thousands of tourists attend PL games every year so it's not impossible. Just be sure to avoid touts and reselling sites.

It looks like if you sign up to be members, you can apply to buy one ticket per member: http://www.manutd.com/en/Club/FAQs/Ticketing/Question-1.aspx

It looks like another option is to buy a ticket+hotel package through Thomas Cook: https://www.thomascooksport.com/Football/Premier-League/Manchester-United-FC

Reddit.com can be a good source for info like this:

Thank you to everyone that has posted. For planning purposes, we will shoot for the home game against Chelsea. Details of any mid-week cup game are months and months away and our plans regarding which days we will or may be in Manchester should be locked in long before that.
