Has anyone used it?
Their pitch sounds good but the reviews I found are at least a couple years old.
Looks like it's free to download but payment required for premium version, which is okay if it's worthwhile.
We'll be visiting London and Oxford BTW.

Never heard of it and I visit London yearly.
A number of us are pretty happy with the Citymapper app.
I just checked and when I searched for Oxford it gave me London and said Oxford is included with London. My experience is only in London where I found it very useful.

From the description it looks like Citymapper is a transportation info & options app, if I'm interpreting it right.
GPSmycity seems to have more touring information. Its description:
"Thousands of self-guided walking tours, travel articles, and offline city maps. The app turns your mobile device into a personal tour guide using its built-in GPS functions. The walking tours and travel articles will guide you to the landmarks, historical sites, museums, restaurants, nightlife venues and other interesting spots in the destinations."
I've reconsidered. It appeared that the app was free (with ads, of course). But further investigation shows that it costs $12.99 for most functionality, and $18.99 for complete access.
There are too many free or cheaper options. Plus I don't like that the cost information wasn't shown upfront -- I got it from 3rd party websites.

Honestly London is easy to negotiate. Use Google Maps.

No, https://www.gpsmycity.com/ isn't exactly upfront and clear that to effectively use to use their app you may need to buy the service. Even in the Google Play Store it only mentions costs as "in app purchases $1.99-$18.99".
It's in this case the 3rd parties revealing that information in media coverage of the app.
