We will be in Chichester during the Goodwood Speed Festival, has anyone been to the festival? Looks like fun. We aren’t big auto acing fans but enjoy vintage cars. If you have attended, do you recommend? Any tips? Thank you
It is a great day out of you are into classic cars an d racing. There is a circuit for racing and a hill climb. The most fun was the soap box challenge, for home made carts with no power that did the hill climb down. And you can wander round the cars of course.
Festival of Speed isn't just vintage cars, It's from old to the very latest. A big mix of all fast cars. Goodwood Revival (12-14th September) is when the vintage cars come out and people dress in period costume. Goodwood Members' Meeting (April 2026) is when you'll see $100's millions dollars in classic cars racing flat out.
Goodwood Festival of Speed is on now and is streaming live on Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/@GoodwoodRR
ETA: Is it this weekend or next year you're thinking of going?
If it's this weekend then tickets sold out a long time ago, if it's next year then tickets go on sale later in the year and they get snapped up pretty quick.
I haven't been (I can't tolerate noise and crowds) but it looks great fun for anyone interested in motoring. Be aware that the main A27 road bypassing Chichester gets very congested at this time.
