I am flying into Heathrow airport Terminal 5 and my husband is also coming into Terminal 5 2 hours later. Where is the best place to meet him where I can actually sit down for a few hours?

You'll see there's seating to either the left of the right after you exit baggage claim.
That being said, you'd be much more comfortable waiting at your hotel.

I'm having almost identical issue, except that my husband is and I are flying in at the same time, but on different airlines. I'm planning on meeting him at the Baggage Claim area...

You could get a large coffee and wait in Costa, a coffee shop just by arrivals.

Carluccio's (Italian) by check in, land side, might be good, have some nice food while you wait... get's busy though.

I do suggest you formulate a Plan B in case either of you has a plane delay. For instance, if he is delayed by a couple of hours are you going to a hotel in London or renting a car and taking off? If there is a big delay you could meet at the hotel if London is your first stop.
