Going through passport control at LHR with Mexican passport

Hello! This is a very specific question. My partner and I are traveling to the UK in May. We both have obtained our ETAs. My passport is from the USA, so I know that I am eligible to use the E-Gates. My partner's passport is from Mexico. I don't think he can use the E-Gate even though he has his ETA.

Question: Do we need to split up or can I go on the same side as he even though I am eligible to go through the E-Gates?

You can stay together and go through the non-egates area

Mexico is NOT on the list of countries that can use the e-gates. You can either split up or both of you can go through the pre e-gate way.
