Going from Russell Square to Heathrow on a Sunday in April 2025

Hi Everyone,

I want to travel from Russell Square station to Heathrow on the Heathrow Express early Sunday morning in April 2p025.

I see the Heathrow Express runs from London Picadilly to Heathrow starting around 5:30 a.m., but there is no ride from Russell Square to Heathrow until after 7:30, which will be too late for three hours before my flight.

Could you please help me find information on how to use the Tube to go from the Russell Square area to Heathrow on an early Sunday morning? Should I walk to London Paddington and catch the Heathrow Express there?

Thank you!

You can’t as the Heathrow Express goes to and from London Paddington and Heathrow only.

Could you please help me find information on how to use the Tube to go from the Russell Square area to Heathrow on an early Sunday morning?

TfL.gov.uk. The Piccadilly Line goes from Russell Square to Heathrow in about 50 minutes with no changes. First Sunday train is around 0330.

I just took the Picadilly line from Russell Sq to terminal 3 Heathrow on Wednesday. Took roughly an hour. Very easy to do. I didn’t go until 09:30 but I know it starts running very early and you’ll be able to look it up.

You can look up the timetables, including start of service times, for the Picadilly line on the Tfl.gov.uk website. But I'm pretty sure the start time on Sunday is plenty early, providing they don't have a work closure scheduled.

To truly help you, we need to know:

1) The exact date you need to get to Heathrow. Just telling us a Sunday doesn't help.

2) What time is your flight?

3) Which terminal at Heathrow? (If you don't know the terminal, what airline and if it's British Airways, where are you going? (British Airways flies out of two different terminals.))

The distance between Russell Square and Paddington Station is 2.5 miles.

The Piccadilly line runs direct from Russel Sqaure to Heathrow all night on Saturday nights. However on some weekends it doesn't which is why we need to know the exact date.

You are also confusing the Heathrow Express with the tube.

There are three "train" lines that go to Heathrow....The Heathrow Express from Paddington Station, the Elizabeth line which also stops at Paddington station but continues east, and the Piccadilly Line (tube) that stops at Russell Square. All have different price points.
