Globe Theater Seat Recs?

The performance we are considering (for 2) has seats available in the middle gallery off to the side (bay C) and also lower gallery tickets that are more centered (bay L, J, G, E). There are also seats available in the upper gallery, but we are leaning toward lower or middle. Any recommendations?

We've tended to get lower gallery seats, if possible immediately behind and above the groundlings, and as centrally as possible. By far the best thing to get on arrival is a cushion and as importantly, a back rest. Definitely get those if you have to forego all else! Still take a waterproof coat too, just I case. You are exposed to the elements, albeit sheltered by the building, dependent on wind direction.

The play's the thing though! Have a great time!

Are back rests rentable? When I went they were not so back row was desirable since one can lean against the wall.

Hope for dry weather, even in the covered seats the rain is a nuisance (sound of ponchos on and off, standing ticket holders squeezing in on the ends of benches in reserved seating).

We always try to get the seats just above the groundlings in the lower gallery or in the first balcony as close to the middle as possible. The actors primarily play to the center and you'll see more the closer to that you are. I would take the lower gallery...

When I went to see Macbeth in 2016 I lucked into the back row so I had a vertical wood wall behind me. I rented a cushion, but I don't recall back rests being rentable. I was still pretty uncomfortable (long legs) and, sadly, the production didn't distract me enough from the discomfort. I had a fine view of the stage from the back row on one side, and I wouldn't have had any exposure if it had been raining.

Nice if they now have rentable backrests though. Sometimes things get better. Or not -- "tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow....."

Back rests have always been rentable at the Globe, although I've never tried them myself.
