Globe Theater and blankets

I was so excited to find that "A Midsummer Night's Dream" was opening while we are in London. I quickly purchased tickets and THEN read about the Globe. I thought the cushions(we rented) were just for added comfort- did not know it was bench seating with no backs, or that it was an open theater. The bench seating may be not the most comfortable for our old bones, but we can squirm. The thing that concerns me is being cold. I read that you can bring blankets, but we travel as light as possible and won't be bringing blankets. So the question is, where can we but reasonably priced, not bulky, decent blankets near by. I can't see doing our days explorations carting around our blankets from the US, so would want to buy them close by. We are staying at the Kimpton and will taxi home after the play, and will leave them there... so they need to be decent quality to donate. I have read the play and am thrilled to be seeing it, even if the conditions may not be ideal. Any suggestions?

Thanks Golden Girl. Do you know of anything closer to the theater?

Do you know of anything closer to the theater?

No. Sorry. The Globe Theatre isn’t really in a shopping district.

The reason I suggested Argos is (a) they’re cheap. (B) there are pick-up points all over. I thought you could order in advance and then pick up somewhere convenient en route to the theatre.

But someone else might know better than I do.

If you tell us where you’re likely to be before the Globe, we could probably help more.

There is an Argos only a few blocks away from your hotel, just down the street from Goodge Street tube station- 216 to 217 Tottenham Court Road- open 8.30 am to 8pm daily- a 14 minute walk from your hotel. So get off at Goodge Street one day, pre order for collection at the shop then walk back to the Hotel with the blankets.
