I have a quick trip home (to the States) before I'll be in London for a few days. Any ideas on what might be a good gift to bring for my London hosts? I'm terrible at this sort of thing.
Specialties of the area you are from... candies, crafts, etc. (such as maple sugar candy from New England states, peanut candy from North Carolina or Georgia, peach jam, blackberry preserves, etc. or a handcrafted lace table runner, Christmas ornament, etc.) Native American items (such as dream catchers) are often suggested. A photo calendar of one of your home state or favorite places or a US 'iconic' location such as the Grand Canyon or New York, etc. A coffee table book of similar photos. If you are checking luggage, a bottle of local wine (there are a surprising number of wineries in NC for example), or maple syrup might be nice.
A nice dinner out.
Bryan,
why not ask for a list of things they would like and just surprise them.
happy trails.
I agree with Susan.. when ever I stay with friends or family I always take them out for a nice dinner and its always been a hit. If your host is not family or friends then I would gift nothing ( as in are you staying in a B@B?)
