Gibraltar - No Cable Car

We will be visiting Gibraltar in July. Since the cable car in being refurbished we will need another way to get to the top. We are looking for suggestions (including Nature Reserve and Apes)

Thank you Jeff.

When I was there in 2019 (so obviously old info), there were many taxis around the cable car area, trying to drum up business from those who were waiting in line for the cable car. I don't think you will have a problem getting a taxi. My husband and I didn't use Uber back in 2019, but it might be an option as well.

I really enjoyed my short time there. Just make sure that if you have a backpack (or any bag, really), it is securely closed and that you don't bring any food with you, because the Barbary Macaques can be quite aggressive. But, they sure are fun to watch!

On two occasions I've used the services of one of the guides driving a minibus that congregate around passport control. You'll encounter them immediately once you enter Gibraltar as they tout for business. Both occasions the guides provided a personal tour that included stops at the caves, the war tunnels and to see the apes. One guide was better than the other so it's luck of the draw really.

Depending on numbers you can either have the minibus to yourself or join up with others (obviously the price increases if you want exclusivity).

Don't be worried about being ripped off or scammed as the drivers are well regulated and the prices are clearly displayed.

Thank you both, We will catch a taxi at the base. I was told a story of a security guard that thought it would be a good idea to give treats to the monkeys in exchange for stolen visitors phones. That only encouraged the monkies to steal more phones to get more treats, So I have been warned.
