Getting to Victoria Station from Heathrow

Heading to London in a few weeks what’s the best way/ most direct way to get to Victoria Station from Heathrow?

Most direct, get a cab, will cost you though ~$100?

The Underground is easy and cheap. Follow the signs, The Piccadilly line serves Heathrow, take that into town, get off at the Hammersmith stop, walk across the platform and catch the next District line train, and that will take you to Victoria Station. To pay, simply use your credit card to tap in at Heathrow, tap out at Victoria Station, cost will be around 6 GBP.

You can also take the National Express bus, or maybe other buses, but those will end at Victoria Coach station, meaning a couple block walk to Victoria train station.

Are you going to Victoria for accommodation or to catch a train? If the latter there may other alternatives to get to your final destination.

I recommend the CityMapper app. Take a look into it, you might find it's a worthwhile app for journey planning in London and other major cities.

Thank you all so much for your help! We are staying at a hotel within walking distance of Victoria Station so if we can get there, we’ll be all set!

trishabeatty06, if you care to share the name of your hotel, we can give you a better idea of which mode of transport will get you the closest to your hotel.

Your hotel is pretty much equidistant to both the Victoria Underground Station and the Victoria Coach Station.

You could take either the train (tube) or the coach (National Express).

The Tube/Underground station is maybe a bit closer but there is WAY more pedestrian traffic than if you take the National Express bus to the Victoria Coach Station. I usually stay at a hotel that is a block closer to the coach station so that is my go-to method. For you, you'd come out of the Coach Arrivals area, take a Right, go to the corner of Ebury Street and take another Right and go about 2 blocks to your hotel. You'd not have to cross any busy streets. Take a look on Google Maps street view.

BTW, if you go on the National Express coach, at the corner of Ebury St and Elizabeth St (where you will make a right) is Peggy Porschen Cakes. Oh my word....their cupcakes are delicious. A trifle spendy but huge and yummy....in case you need a sugar infusion to help you thru the rest of the day, hahaha!!

To me the plus about the coach in to town is that the driver loads your bag into the belly of the bus and it's non-stop to Victoria. You don't have to really do any thinking which I'm not good at after an overnight flight, lol.

If we took the underground, we would be pulling luggage. Are elevators or escalators available for us?

geovagriffith, yes, there should be both lifts and escalators available for you at Heathrow, but keep in mind there are some stations with steps. If you're going to Victoria from Heathrow, you can take the Piccadilly line to either Baron's Court or Green Park (neither of which have any stairs), then take the District Line (at Baron's Court) or the Victoria line (at Green Park) to Victoria Station.

If you are going from Heathro to Victoria Station, don't do the transfer at Green Park.

If you change from the Piccadilly Line to the District Line at either Hammersmith or Barons Court, all you have to do is cross the platform to make the transfer. Less than 20 feet.

If you go to Green Park, it's a much longer walk from the Piccadilly Line to the Victoria Line. And Green Park is a much busier station.

For full step free access TfL give three routes from Heathrow to Victoria, all of which involve a bus.

1- Elizabeth Line to Paddington, then bus #36;
2- Elizabeth Line to Bond Street, then bus #390;
3- Piccadilly Line to Earl's Court, then bus #C1. The C1 stops at both Victoria Coach and Bus Stations, and is a single deck electric bus (I know that from having used it several times). It is a scheduled 20 minute bus ride from Earl's Court to Victoria.

Number 2 is the least user friendly of the three,

agreeing with Pam that it's wonderful having the driver deal with our luggage and we can NAP on the bus/coach! We always take the bus from Heathrow when we can, now – Oxford, Reading, Victoria, Cambridge ... :)
