Getting to UK with Miles

Looking for any suggestions on how to get from west coast to the UK (Scotland for a RS tour, then back home via London in June) using United miles. I have enough to go business class (via saver miles), but there is no availability from SFO. I've looked at some alternate options, but just wondering if anyone has anything that's worked for them. Ex: Trying to use Air Canada (I can't figure out how to book w/them using United miles).

Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

The key to using miles, especially in business where there are less seats, is to redeem early and be flexible with connections.
You can only redeem miles with partner airlines via United's site. Only selected code-shares are available. It's mostly Lufthansa flights that are available as they use larger planes across the pond. United uses a lot of narrow body 757s from east coast airports.

If you're not seeing what you want on United's website, but know that the flight exists, you can call. I don't know if it's still true, but a few years ago, there were FF itineraries that could not be booked online but could be booked by phone. You will pay a fee to book a mileage ticket by phone, but if you get the flights you want, it's worth it.

A great resource is "The Points Guy" , he has a daily blog on finding and using points for hotel, air etc. I subscribe to his daily email and he currently has a blog regarding United Miles.

Thank you so much! I think I may be very close now, and 'the points guy' was a lot of help. Really appreciate all the input. Thank you
