getting to Camden Town from Gatwick Airport

Traveling to London via Iceland Air, flies into Gatwick. I've seen plenty of posts re best options for getting into the city from Heathrow, has anyone traveled into city from Gatwick? Our Guesthouse is located in Camden Town. Thanks!

Sheary,

Take the Gatwick Express train into London Victoria Station. Check the underground map for directions to Camden Town from there.

Thank you emma and linda. Since I have no idea how long it will take to get thru customs, i don't know what schedule to look at to utilize the more economical options of thameslink or southern...do you know what happens at the airport...is there one ticket machine that gives me all the options, or do I go to different stations depending on which service I choose? I was trying to see if I could do this online in advance, to avoid the lines at ticket machines after everyone gets off the plane. I'm traveling with my 81 and 83 yr old parents.... and the arrival into Gatwick is on a Sunday mid day, so from your info re the thameslink and construction at london bridge, perhaps that would be equally viable option as the southern. big smiles and thanks!

The easiest route is to take a Thameslink train all the way to St Pancras International, then leave the station by the exit next to the Eurostar check-in gates and get a 214 bus to Camden. It's a short bus trip and you don't need to worry about elevators or escalators.

Sheary,
Yes, the train direct to St Pancras is the best option. I think it is every half an hour.
But, in the past I have had to fight the ticket machine at Gatwick Airport to sell me a ticket on the route I want. I entered "St Pancras" and it tried to sell me a ticket on the faster Gatwick Express to Victoria, followed by the tube to St Pancras, not what I wanted.
Maybe the machine has got better, but I would go to the manned ticket window.

With your 81 and 83 yr olds I too would recommend a taxi from St Pancras, it is not far and should not break the bank.

Belsize Park is set on a hill - it might be worth finding out if you will walking up or down hill when you leave the station.

I'd route "via London Bridge" rather than "via St Pancras" and then leave the Thameslink at St Pancras.

Be aware that the trains on the Thameslink line are not renowned for being the newest nor the most comfortable, nor the fastest. But they do (eventually) get you there. Most of the time.
