You may get more responses if this was in the England not France forum!

Brits wouldn’t contemplate doing this any way other than by train. Take the train to London Waterloo - takes just over 1.5 hours. Tickets at southwesternrailway.com.

We used a car service based in Portsmouth, www.aquacars.co.uk from London Heathrow to Portsmouth. It was cheaper than the train and took us door to door with luggage. They no doubt can take you from Portsmouth to your London accommodations. Worth a look.

Yes, Nigel. It was in the Atlantis News Bulletin. The CEO of Aquacars, Depak (Deep to his friends) Deep Waters, has launched an attempt to break into the dry land car rental business. His wife (Fiona) know as Fizzy Waters, is handling the launch.

Whereabouts in London?

When I begrudgingly travel I usually opt for the train. Direct routes to London Victoria and Waterloo. We have a Friends and Family Railcard which can sometimes make an adult ticket during off peak periods around £8.

I've been known to drive, it's not my favourite city to drive in, the courtesy you find in much of the rest of the UK is sadly lacking and with too much unnecessary use of the horn you'd think you were somewhere on the Continent.

Aquacars are the largest taxi firm in Portsmouth and despite their monopoly their prices remain fair. Depending on how many are travelling it may be more economical than taking the train.

We have a regular taxi driver who often takes us to airports and transports my wife to and from Heathrow on a weekly basis for work. If you are interested in his services then PM me with the trip details and I can make an enquiry on your behalf.
