Hello
I have tickets for the Inner Stone experience at Stonehenge 5/26 at 0645. We will need to be at the visitor center by 0630 the latest. What is the best way to get there. I was not aware that the Tube and trains were not 24 hours.
Thanks
If you need to be at Stonehenge 6:30, my recommendation is to spend the night in e.g. Salisbury.
Hire a private driver. Going to be a substantial cost.
The tube has never been 24/7.
Have you considered leaving London the day before, training to Salisbury, spending the night and hiring a driver from Salisbury to Stonehenge.
Copied my response from a different thread about visiting Stonehenge, in case you might find it useful.
What we did was to book a B&B in Amesbury. We booked a local taxi to
pick us up in Salisbury, take us to our B&B the day before (it was
actually a little more involved in our case, but that wouldn't
necessarily apply to others), pick us up early in the morning at the
B&B and take us to Stonehenge, return and take us back to our B&B for
a hearty breakfast after our time at the stones, and then pick us up
again from our B&B and take us to the train station in Salisbury for
our onward trip to Exeter. This worked out beautifully. The taxi was
Stu's Taxi, and the B&B was Fairlawn House.
Last train out of Waterloo to Salisbury is at 23:40, arriving at 01:11.
Then a taxi or driver in the morning.
No overnight trains, except two, one to Cornwall and one to Scotland.
Even the West Coast Main Line from Euston to northern London suburbs arrives at its destinations by 02:30.
There are a few night tube trains, hourly only on some lines and only on Friday and Saturday nights but that doesn't get you beyond London.
First train out of Waterloo on a Friday is at 06:35 arriving Salisbury at 08:06.
Was your original plan to ride the rails all night and then get a taxi?
Spend the night in Salisbury.
Taxi in the morning, as Nigel said.
Salisbury is actually a nice place to spend two nights.
You could see Salisbury Cathedral too.
We love Salisbury and are never in a rush to get back to London.
Nice walks in Salisbury.
Lovely water meadows and ancient buildings.
Salisbury is a lovely town for an overnight. Hotels are cheaper than in London. Use the afternoon to see the cathedral and maybe visit Old Sarum. Find a nice little pub for dinner. The in the morning take a taxi or pre-booked car service to Stonehenge. It is only 9 miles. I have ridden there on a bicycle with my son.
