Getting from France to London

Hi! I'm looking for suggestions on preferred travel between France and London for next July/August.

Here's the background. We will be in Europe for the summer, going to 8 different countries, and one portion is France and London. I know there are lots of options for getting between the two, but I'm looking for what you all recommend. We will be going to Paris and also the Normandy beaches and Mont St Michel. We will be coming into Paris from Germany, so I'm planning for us to do three days in the city, and one day at Disneyland, and then driving a rental car to Caen or Bayeaux. We will spend three days in that area, and then we are heading to London.

Options as I see them are:

1) return the car to Paris and fly to London
2) return the car to Paris and take the train to London
3) keep the car and take the ferry from Caen to London (added cost to return car in different country)

Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences to share?

If taking the car one way is even permitted ( that pesky steering wheel on the other side thing) I suspect it would be punitively expensive.

The hassle of flying, when you are not already at the airport ( making a flight connection), makes taking a train the practical choice for your circumstance.

Paris to London by train (Eurostar). No question.

Instead of driving into Paris with your car, return it in Lille (northern France, near the Belgian border). Eurostar trains to London go via Lille, and many stop there. Then look round Lille for a few hours (lunch?) and catch a train to London.
If you mean August 2018, you need to get your Eurostar tickets soon as the prices have already started going up: https://www.eurostar.com
